Obama's Presidential Limo

Primer gray, two-tone, bullet proof and it’s a Cadillac? Every gangbangers  dream.

“Among the vehicle's main features are windows that are 5 inches thick, 19.5-inch Goodyear RHS tires (same as super tough trucks), and possibly even a lock safety mechanism that seals off the car like a bank vault in case of an emergency.

Because the Secret Service keeps details of the limo understandably private, even the most knowledgeable security experts don't really know how much gadgety tech is being installed in the new ride.” – Wired Blog

I would like to know what kind on MPG rating this beast will have. Between this car and Air Force One he won’t be our greenest presidents.

WB to Re-Release The Dark Knight Jan. 23

darknightnyt2

Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing The Dark Knight back for a return engagement in theaters and IMAX on January 23, 2009, giving audiences one more chance to see the film on the big screen. The film will re-open nationwide, it was announced today by Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution.

Now look if you have read my earlier post you would realize I loved this movie. Now I wonder if I will go see it when it comes back out? Well lets put it this way, my wife will be calling me a retard some time after the 23rd of January. Oh well.

Comic Books

Absolute_Kingdom_Come_800x600

I never got into comic books when I was growing up. I don’t know why. I have an uncle who was really into comic books. He had probably a few thousand of them, he had taken them out of his parents house and brought them to his house. He joked about how he was going to "retire on these someday". One night it rained a monsoon, the comics were sitting too close to the window and the window decided to leak, every last book was water damaged. The perfect storm indeed. I had looked at the comics before their destruction but for some reason it never took.

So anyways a couple of years ago I was on Amazon and this book caught my eye, Watchmen. It was under a category of graphic novels and for $20 I wanted to read what was touted as “the greatest comic book ever written”. Well after getting a couple of chapters into it I realized this is what has been missing from comics for me. The graphic novel pulled the whole series together into one book. With regular comic issue format if I found a comic I liked I would have to search for the next issue in the series but not with the graphic novel it is all there. Not to mention the first real comic I ever read was Watchmen. I read it again and again. And now the movie is coming out, how lucky am I?

Since my initial read of Watchmen some of the book I have read are Batman: Year One, this was an awesome book as well. It's a Frank Miller "reboot" of how batman began. The story ends with a mention to a new villian threatening to contaminate Gotham reservoir but to my knowledge the series fas never continued. Kingdom Come was my first read of many of the superheroes I know and love from other mediums. The story was interesting and compelling. And the art work was unbelievable, I think it was done by Alex Ross in water color.

I have a long list of GN I want to read, from the Terminator Omnibus to Martha Washington to pretty much any Batman. Crisis on Infinite Earths, Indiana Jones, V for Vendetta, Hell Boy Collection, Ronin the list goes on and on.

I heard a writer saying Watchmen was like a gateway drug into the graphic novel medium, boy he was right in my case.

If anyone reads this and knows of a GN I might like please leave a comment, Thanks.

Arrested Development?

I first watched Arrested Development when it came on TBS or somthing like that. I watched 3 mabey 4 episodes and I thought there is something to this. My wife also expressed an interest in seing more. So I decided to get the seasons and we would watch 1 or 2 episodes a nite, yeah right. We got so hooked on the Bluth family we would watch 5 or 6 per nite, we were not thinking about the fact there were only so many episodes and we were going to run out. We were just to high on the show to realize, and like any good buzz we came crashing down.

This was an awsome series and if only it had ran longer. There has been some internet rumors about a big screen adaptation, one last blast for the fans.

Alisia Shawcat had this to say in a recent interview:
"I think it's gonna happen. They're writing the script right now, supposedly. But, you know, Mitch talked to all the actors and they are all in; Everyone wants to be a part of it."

She shared a few more details in this Teen Flare interview:
"With the publicity of Juno, Jason Bateman started spewing rumours that there was going to be a movie. When we wrapped, [Jason] said, ‘watch I’m going to make sure a movie happens’. He’s just like the best advocate for Arrested – as everyone is. But he really just created a rumour, which now may be starting the actual production of it. Mitch [Hurwitz, the creator] spoke to everyone to make sure they were all on board and everyone is, so I think they’re going forward with it. Ron Howard is down to [direct] it, so I think Mitch just has to write the script…"

This show has became a cult classic for many, myself included. I think Fox is shooting themselves for letting this one go but mabey it's the fact that it went away that it became more interesting to peolpe. Who knows? Let's keep our fingers crossed on the movie.

The Dark Night

Well lets see, I watched The Dark Knight I think 4 times. And yes I do think thats a bit ridiculous.
1) The first time I went to the IMAX, I sat in the middle two or three rows up from the metal rail. I think it is the accoustic "sweet spot", the audio was so thunderous and crisp there. It was very immersive.
2) I went to see it at another theater and it wasn't near the same experience.
3)Then going back to the IMAX I sat near the back wall in the middle and the audio was missing alot of what I remembered from the first outing, I would hear some sounds from the back speakers and others were faint from the front.
4) I had a coupon for half off so you know I HAD to go, right? I sat in my "sweet spot" and the experience was back.
One of the reasons I think I went so many times was this 1st experience, I was trying to capture that again.
I think this was the best movie I have ever seen. Heath Ledger . . . Wow need I say more? The darker more mature tone of the movie I think plays to my age group and I mean Ledger's Joker vs. Arnold's Mr. Freeze. They are not even in the same realm.
I would expect with movie filming technologies and techniques ever progressing forward that movies (i'm talking about audio/video not the scripts) should alway surpass the last. But its going to be awhile until a movie can surpass this for me.

Of course the Watchmen trailer attached to the film didn't hurt my desire to see it, but thats another post and I won't get into it.

Day One

I am creating this for me. I thought it would be an interesting idea to create something to get my thoughts down. A place where I can talk about things that are cool to me and of course the opportunity to rant to my hearts content. So if you have stumbled in here enjoy.
